DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON DESIGNING PARTICIPATORY ACTION RESEARCH PROJECTS FOR BASIC EDUCATION TEACHERS

Anchored on Evans’ professional development (PD) model, this study aimed to develop, implement, and evaluate a program designing participatory action research (PAR) projects for basic education teachers. The teachers are from Junior Senior High School teaching English, Mathematics, Science. PD consisted of ten in-person training sessions virtual consultations which happened in between AR problem conceptualization methodology 14-week period. Using the mixed-methods sequential explanatory (QUAN à qual) design, started with needs assessment participated by 18 secondary school as basis planned program. underwent develop group or proposal evidence their growth outcome. At end program, Science teachers, respectively, developed presented proposals (a) design evaluation gamified-based instruction towards improving vocabulary skill, (b) video-based concepts probability, (c) investigating effect contextualized learning materials developing students’ conceptual understanding atoms. post-assessment results, supported interviews, revealed that displayed behavioural, attitudinal, intellectual developments AR. Based Department Education’s criteria evaluating PAR proposals, all three were rated acceptable implementation panel evaluators. In conclusion, framework important factors enabled participating transform competencies toward schools.
